Thomas Whitmore Wylde Browne (September 19, 1800 – November 8, 1877) was born on September 19, 1800, in Melcombe Regis, Weymouth and Portland Borough, Dorset, England, as
the son of Ralph Browne Wylde-Browne of Caughley, Shropshire, and Mary Ann Whitmore. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Wylde, Esq., and his paternal grandmother was
Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Ralph Browne, Esq., of Caughley, with his father taking the additional surname and arms of Browne upon marriage. He was a brother to John
E. W. Browne.
He was educated at Eton School and subsequently admitted as a Fellow-Commoner at St John's College, Cambridge, on February 1, 1819, matriculating in January 1819. During
his time at university, he was notably a member of the Cambridge Apostles.
On November 23, 1821, he married Catherine Brouncker in Marylebone, London. Catherine was the daughter of William Brouncker, Esq., of Pelhams, Dorset. Together, they
established their home at The Woodlands, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, and had multiple children, including William Harry, John Edward, Katharine, Agnes Jane, Henrietta Anne, Mary
Anne, Ralph, and Harry.
Professionally, Thomas served the county as a justice of the peace and a deputy lieutenant for Shropshire. His wife Catherine passed away on November 24, 1835, at the age
of 36. Thomas Whitmore Wylde-Browne died on November 8, 1877, at the age of 77 in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, and was buried in the St. Bartholomew Churchyard in Glazeley,
Shropshire.
